ON THE WATER SAIL TRAINING

For the experienced - and not so experienced

The Training section at Royal Ulster Yacht Club can arrange the following courses for RYA Certification:

Competent Crew
This is for beginners and those who would like to become active crew members rather than just passengers. By the end of the course you should be able to steer, handle sails, keep a lookout, row a dinghy and assist in all the day to day routines.

RYA Day Skipper Theory Class at RUYC commencing Sept/Oct 2006 One night per week October through to March

More details to follow.  Contact Peter Bullick

Day Skipper (practical - tidal waters)

The practical course gives you a chance to take charge on short passages under instruction with plenty of advice and help from the instructor. Designed for tidal waters.

Yachtmaster Practical and Theory
A Yachtmaster is a yachtsman or woman who has a wealth of sailing or motor cruising knowledge and is competent to skipper a yacht on coastal and cross-Channel passages. As any yacht skipper will tell you, those passages which take you close to land or across shipping lanes are the most difficult, particularly if the weather is rough or the visibility is poor. A Yachtmaster must be able to cope with plain sailing but also in the most demanding situations.
