Royal Ulster Sailor Invited to Join Irish Sailing Association Academy

Robert Espey (20 years), and his crew, Richard McCullough, also 20, (BYC), have been invited to join the ISA’s Development Academy.

Espey and McCullough were nominated to compete in the ISAF (International Sailing Federation) Games in Austria this month but exam pressure forced them to pull out.

Invitations to the Academy have been made to sailors with regard to their standard and performance targets rather than their specific age or gender category.

These young Olympic hopefuls will be training and competing extensively throughout the summer season. Most spent three days per week training over the winter with intermittent longer training camps overseas and are keen to test their progress on the international circuit.
